REGEN 2000 ON TRACK TO DELIVER!
Residents in the BD3 area have recieved a boost with the news that funding for the Regen 2000 programme from Yorkshire Forward is being continued!
A Funding Agreement Letter was signed on Tuesday 11 July 2006, which has secured funding to the tune of £5.9 million over the next year.
The money will go towards delivering a range of projects in Barkerend and the BD3 area for the benefit of the residents, businesses and the community. Chair of the Regen 2000 Steering Group Jeanette Sunderland said
"Securing funding of £5.9 million for the next year from Yorkshire Forward to improve the BD3 area is very good news for the community... This money will allow us to go ahead with our long-term regeneration plan for the area and deliver the remainder of the programme."
Councillor Sunderland went on to thank Mohammed Shakeel, Regen 2000 Community Director, for all his hard work in the programme. The Director of Regeneration and Housing at Bradford Council Patrick Wiggins said
"This is a very positive decsion and one that is key to the Barkerend and BD3 area."
Regen 2000 aims to reduce unemployement in the eastern part of Bradford’s inner city, improving public sector housing, and social and economic regeneration. It also oversees a programme of community-led economic regeneration, provides support for businesses and will make physical and social improvements.
